Increase the number of succesful IVF assisted pregnancies worldwide
IVF consists in generating and cultivating embryos for up to 5 days in the lab before transfering it to the patient’s womb. Cultivating cells, and embryos alike, can be challenging.
As a researcher, our CEO has spent significant time cultivating and imaging tissues and cells, feeling like these images had much more to say that we thought, but lacking the tools to give them a voice.
Realizing that IVF was a key and growing application of cell culture, it became obvious that it was similarly in dire need of tools to optimize decision making, with one key end-goal: increase quality control.
Alexandra is a biomedical engineer, trained in engineering schools in Switzerland, UK and US.
Her PhD and Postdoc revolved around the study of ex vivo and in vitro models of different diseases, at the tissue and cellular level (e.g. organs on chips).
